Anantnag, August 21, Aug. 21 -- Anantnag Police have executed a warrant under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT-NDPS) against an alleged repeat drug offender from Bijbehara. The warrant was issued by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, against Mohammad Ashraf Ganie, a resident of Waghama Bijbehara. Following execution of the warrant, Ganie was detained and subsequently lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah under the preventive detention provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act. Police described him as a "notorious drug offender" and said the action was aimed at preventing his alleged continued involvement in the illicit narcotics trade.
