Srinagar, April 30, May 1 -- Lieutenant General Balbir Singh has been appointed as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Chinar Corps, one of the Indian Army's key formations responsible for operations in Jammu and Kashmir. He will assume charge on May 1, 2026. Lt Gen Singh brings extensive operational experience, particularly in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations in the Kashmir Valley.
