J&K records lowest women crime cases in 5 years: Centre
Srinagar, July 24, July 25 -- Jammu and Kashmir recorded 3,366 cases of crime against women in 2024, the lowest in the past five years, according to data shared by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development in the Lok Sabha. The figures, based on data compiled by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), show that the UT registered 3,405 cases in 2020, 3,937 in 2021, 3,716 in 2022, 3,653 in 2023, and 3,366 in 2024, indicating a year-on-year decline of nearly eight per cent.The information was provided by Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur in a written reply to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha on Friday.
