Srinagar, Aug 31, Aug. 31 -- Jammu and Kashmir's horticulture sector has expanded significantly over the past four decades, but declining apple productivity and a sharp reduction in almond cultivation have emerged as major concerns, according to a NITI Aayog roadmap for the Union Territory's horticulture development. The findings are contained in the "Roadmap for Horticulture Development in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir @ 2047", which examines the growth, productivity and challenges facing the sector. According to the report, the area under fruit cultivation increased from 1.31 lakh hectares in 1980 to 3.44 lakh hectares in 2022.
