Dubai, September 25, Sept. 26 -- Iran has put forward a proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days, subject to the United States agreeing to several conditions outlined by Tehran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reportedly discussed the proposal during a private meeting held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Under the proposed arrangement, Tehran would reopen the strategic maritime passage and resume discussions with Washington over Iran's nuclear programme. In return, Iran wants the United States to end its naval blockade of Iranian ports, ease restrictions affecting Iranian oil exports and support a ceasefire that includes Lebanon.
