Heavy rain spell to lash J&K: MeT
Srinagar, July 17, July 18 -- Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness a prolonged spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall between July 20 and 25 under the combined influence of a strong Western Disturbance (WD) and active monsoon winds, raising the risk of flash floods, landslides and cloudbursts across several parts of the Union Territory. According to weather forecasts, the most intense phase of the rainfall is expected from July 20 to 23, when widespread precipitation is likely to affect both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions.The Jammu region is expected to remain particularly vulnerable, with forecasters warning that exceptionally heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods, inundation in low-lying areas, overflowing streams and rivers, and ...
