Srinagar, Oct 16, Oct. 17 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Ward Officer of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Safakadal, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000.According to the CBI, a case was registered on October 15, 2026, following a complaint alleging that the officer had demanded the bribe to allow minor renovation work at the complainant's residence to continue.The CBI said it laid a trap on October 15 and caught the accused officer red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting the Rs.10,000 bribe.
