Shillong, Sep 16, Sept. 17 -- The Assam Rifles organised a lecture-cum-sensitisation programme on HIV/AIDS and the HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017, at Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles (HQ DGAR), Laitkor, on Wednesday. The programme was conducted by the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) with the objective of creating greater awareness among Assam Rifles personnel and their families about HIV prevention, transmission, treatment and the social challenges associated with the disease.Officers, staff, personnel and family members participated in the awareness session, which also focused on addressing stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV.
