Assam Rifles busts smuggling networks in Northeast
Srinagar, Aug. 31 -- Assam Rifles, under the Spear Corps, conducted intelligence-led operations across Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh, targeting narcotics trafficking and cross-border smuggling networks. In Champhai, Mizoram, Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Customs Department, seized 32,890 kg of areca nuts valued at approximately Rs.3.44 crore. The operation targeted an illicit consignment suspected to have been routed through the border region.In a separate joint operation at Aizawl, Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police apprehended three persons and recovered 878 grams of methamphetamine tablets, estimated to be worth around Rs.2.63 crore.The security forces also conducted an operation in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, where ...
