Baramulla, Oct 2, Oct. 2 -- Police in Baramulla seized 6.8 kilograms of banned polythene during a checking drive at Wagoora Market and imposed a fine of Rs.5,300, officials said. An additional penalty of Rs.200 was imposed under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) during the enforcement operation. Officials said such drives are aimed at curbing the use and improper disposal of polythene, which contributes to plastic pollution and can adversely affect land and water ecosystems.
