18683 Kgs of meat products inspected in J&K, 102 cases compounded
Srinagar, Oct 4, Oct. 5 -- Nearly 18,683.5 kg of meat and meat products came under the scanner of food-safety authorities in Jammu and Kashmir during a dedicated inspection drive with the officials lifting 1,826 samples, compounding 102 cases and imposing fines of Rs 38.58 lakh, according to government data. The latest meat and meat-products inspection data show that 1,826 samples were lifted during the drive, covering approximately 18.68 tonnes of meat and related products.As many as 144 cases were decided, while 102 cases were compounded, with penalties amounting to Rs 38.58 lakh.The government figures show that 309 cases were filed during 2026-27, compared with 1,211 in 2025-26-a decline of nearly 75 per cent.
