LifeMine Raises $263 Million to Reinvent Organ Rejection Drugs
New Delhi, Aug. 7 -- For patients receiving an organ transplant, surgery is only the beginning. The immune system naturally recognizes the new organ as foreign, meaning recipients often depend on powerful immunosuppressive drugs to prevent rejection. LifeMine Therapeutics believes a better option may have been hiding in nature for roughly a billion years: fungi.
The biotechnology company has raised $263 million across two venture financings to advance LIFE-001, an experimental immunosuppressive therapy discovered by systematically mining fungal genomes.
