Mumbai-based ENTOD Pharmaceuticals has announced Project AXIOM, an India-led research programme exploring dopaminergic modulation as a next-generation therapeutic approach to progressive myopia. At its centre is AKMYX-101, an investigational topical ophthalmic candidate designed to modulate retinal dopaminergic signalling, with the aim of influencing excessive axial elongation, a key driver of progressive myopia. The programme will combine advanced formulation science, ocular pharmacokinetics, target-engagement studies and preclinical research, with the ambition of indigenously developing from India a potentially world-first ophthalmic therapy of its kind.
