India, June 19 -- Dr Dhananjay Tiwary, Senior Fellow, School of Public Health; and Advisor/ Scientist G, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, has taken additional charge as the Managing Director (MD) at Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).

Dr Jitendra Kumar, serving as the MD of BIRAC, since June 2023, stepped out of his role recently.

Dr Tiwary previously served as the Science Counsellor at the Embassy of India in Washington, DC. He is particularly interested in health technology innovation policy that ensures healthcare measures are affordable, equitable and accessible, and in addressing emerging biosecurity concerns.
