Bangladesh, July 10 -- Police have arrested a young man in Sirajganj's Shahjadpur Upazila on allegations of strangling his wife to death.

The killing took place at Moshipur village under Garadaha Union in the Upazila on Thursday night, said Shahjadpur Police chief Saiful Islam.

The victim was identified as Mim Akter, 18.

Police arrested her husband, Md Rasel, 20, later that night.

Citing family members and locals, officer Saiful said the couple had been in a relationship before their families arranged their marriage about a year and a half ago.

They had recently been going through family disputes, he added.

Following this, Rasel allegedly strangled his wife to death at their home around 9pm on Thursday, according to the allegation....
