Will let the media know about progress on Tarique visit, says Delhi
Bangladesh, Aug. 14 -- Despite reports of preparations for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's possible visit to Delhi next week, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has not confirmed it.
In a briefing on Friday, ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, as he has done previously, that he would "let [the media] know if there is any progress" regarding the Bangladesh premier's visit to Delhi.
Diplomatic and political sources in Dhaka and Delhi say that preparations are under way for Tarique's first visit to India next week, ahead of the BIMSTEC summit in Delhi.
These sources say that the likely date of the prime minister's visit could be Aug 22-23, exactly a week after India's Independence Day.
