Dhaka, March 18 -- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast scattered rain in parts of the country on Eid day, with the festival expected to fall on Friday or Saturday depending on the sighting of the moon.

Meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana said on Wednesday that rain was likely in parts of the country from Wednesday through Sunday.

"Accordingly, on Eid day too, there is a possibility of scattered rain, rain with gusty winds, thunderstorms or even hail in different areas."

She added that nor'wester conditions had developed under the influence of winds blowing in from the north and northwest, raising the likelihood of rain across the country over the next few days.
