Dhaka, April 29 -- A woman has allegedly been raped at knifepoint after her husband was brutally beaten in Rajshahi's Charghat Upazila.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday near Sardah Railway Station, said Charghat Police chief Abdul Malek.

On Wednesday afternoon, the victim's husband filed a case naming Ashraful Islam, 35, a resident of Holidagachhi Jagirpara village, as the primary suspect.

Police said the couple earn a living by selling popcorn on trains and at railway stations.

According to the case statement, the couple left home on Tuesday afternoon as part of their routine work.
