Dhaka, Oct. 1 -- Only a week ago, Cristiano Ronaldo had been adamant that status should count for nothing in Portugal's new era under coach Jorge Jesus.

"I'm always happy. If I wasn't happy, I wouldn't want to represent the national team," the 41-year-old captain told reporters before Jesus's first game in charge.

"As the manager said, and I agree with him: status counts for nothing."

Ronaldo also made clear that he would know when it was time to go.

"They count on me. I still believe that I'm able to help the national team," he said at the Portugal Football Summit.

"If the manager doesn't count on me, I can leave today - no problem at all... When I feel that I'm not doing anything here, that I'm not contributing on the pitch, not sc...
