Dhaka, March 18 -- The National Moon Sighting Committee is set to meet on Thursday to determine the date of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The Islamic Foundation said in a statement on Wednesday that the meeting will be held at 6pm in the Baitul Mukarram conference room to sight the Shawwal moon and fix the date of the festival.

Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain will chair the meeting.

The statement requested that anyone who sights the Shawwal moon anywhere in the sky over Bangladesh inform the committee through the designated telephone numbers or notify the deputy commissioner or Upazila administrator (UNO) in the relevant district.
