Well-marked low may intensify into depression, cautionary signal maintained
Bangladesh, July 5 -- A well-marked low-pressure area over the northern Bay of Bengal has developed into a monsoon depression, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
In a special weather bulletin on Sunday, it says the weather system was about 510km west-southwest of Chattogram, 520km west of Cox's Bazar, 285km west-southwest of Mongla and 340km west-southwest of Payra at noon.
It is likely to move west-northwest and hit the coast in India's north Odisha in the next 24 hours. However, the Bangladesh's maritime ports, the north Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas may see squally weather under the system's influence.
