Dhaka, June 12 -- The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) cleaners are set to work during the day as well as night to keep the city free of waste as part of initiatives to boost the capital's waste management system and make it more habitable.

The DNCC announced the decision in a media statement on Friday, highlighting proposed measures to implement multiple initiatives, including the procurement of modern vehicles for waste removal and generation of electricity from waste.

Currently, the cleaners work in one shift at any time of the day.

An open tender process is under way to further strengthen cleanliness activities in 26 DNCC wards of the city, the statement read.
