Dhaka, May 15 -- Two people have died from electrocution after touching a live wire in Phulpur Upazila Mymensingh, according to police.

The incident occurred around 2:15pm on Friday in Bhatta village of Ruposhi Union, said Phulpur Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Abul Bashar.

The victims are Tajuddin, 40, son of Shukkur Ali, and Arshab Ali, 60, son of Mia Hossain. Both were locals.

Tajuddin was drying hay next to his house before the accident.

An electric wire torn by the storm was buried under the hay and he did not see it.

At one stage, he inadvertently touched the wire and fell to the ground from the shock.

Arshab immediately noticed the situation and tried to rescue him.
