Dhaka, March 19 -- Two people have died and another has been hospitalised after a fire broke out in a multi-storey building in Terry Bazar, Chattogram.

Chattogram Medical College Hospital declared two people dead at 11:50am on Thursday, according to Sub-Inspector Nurul Alam Asheq of the hospital's police outpost.

The dead were identified as Mohammad Yunus, 52, and Md Solaiman, 28, both from Patiya in Chattogram.

Another person is receiving treatment at the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The blaze erupted around 10am on the fourth floor in the 12-storey Orchid Plaza building.

Fire Service officials said three people who fell ill due to smoke inhalation were rescued and taken to hospital for treatment.
