Traditional Eid-ul-Azha sacrifices across Dhaka city
Bangladesh, May 28 -- Although the sky in Dhaka was cloudy early in the morning, there was no rain during the Eid prayers.
Instead, the sun peeked out after 9am on Thursday. Following Eid congregations across the city, devotees became busy with the traditional animal sacrifices.
This year, the Dhaka city corporations have not set aside a separate place for the sacrifices. As such, they could be seen in streets and alleys across the city.
The absence of rain makes it easier for animals to be butchered and the meat to be managed in the morning, but waste removal may become much easier if there is some rain in the afternoon.
