Dhaka, June 11 -- The Airport Armed Police Battalion (AAPBn) has detained six people at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport on charges of smuggling nearly 600g of gold.

The AAPBn says the detainees are members of a smuggling ring and was working for them as "receivers".

The detainees have been identified as Md Monir Hossain, 32, Kazi Masud, 23, Saidul Islam, 26, Ilias Khan, 33, Sabbir Mia, 22, and Md Kamal Hossain, 44.

In a media statement on Thursday, the AAPBn said that the detainees were seen loitering suspiciously on the south side of the open government parking area in front of the Dhaka airport around 4:30am on Wednesday.
