Dhaka, Sept. 23 -- Police have arrested a 17-year-old over the death of a construction worker who was run over by an SUV after it mounted a pavement in Dhaka's Baridhara.

Gulshan Police chief Zahed Noor said Wednesday the teenager was arrested in a house on Road 12 in Gulshan and remains in police custody.

The case over Tuesday afternoon's incident was initially filed without naming the teenager.

The person identified as the vehicle's driver was made the suspect. Police said the teenager's father is a captain at Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

"The case is being investigated properly, and legal action will be taken against the actual offender," the officer said.
