Teaching must never be a last resort: PM
Dhaka, Oct. 5 -- Teaching should be a career of first choice, not a fallback for those with nowhere else to turn, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said, pledging to strengthen teachers' financial security and status.
He made the remarks at a discussion marking World Teachers' Day 2026 in Dhaka on Monday, where he outlined why the profession must attract the country's brightest minds.
"Teaching can never be a last resort or just another job. Rather, the government is reshaping teacher recruitment and the education system so that the most talented people in education become interested in choosing teaching as their first priority in their careers," he said.
