Dhaka, Feb. 15 -- Tarique Rahman has paid a courtesy visit to the residence of Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman after securing an absolute majority in the election.

Accompanied by senior party leaders, the BNP chairman drove to Shafiqur's at Dhaka's Bashundhara residential area shortly after 7pm on Sunday.

Following the visit, Tarique is scheduled to go to the residence of National Citizen Party (NCP) Convenor Nahid Islam.

Those accompanying the BNP supremo included party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan.

Jamaat leaders present at the meeting included Assistant Secretary General and Publicity and Media Affairs Chief Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair.
