Tarique orders swift reopening of closed state-owned factories
Bangladesh, July 4 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered that the process of reopening state-owned factories be completed at the earliest.
Chairing a meeting at his office in Tejgaon on Saturday, he instructed authorities to complete the entire process transparently and without "unnecessary" delay.
The meeting discussed the progress of reopening unprofitable and closed state-owned factories, said Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu.
Officials said many private companies had expressed interest in investing in the loss-making factories, he said.
The government will now assess the feasibility of the industrial projects proposed by the interested companies before moving ahead, Shipul added.
