Dhaka, May 2 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has joined the opening ceremony of "Notun Kuri Sports", a talent search initiative designed to foster the physical and mental growth of children and adolescents.

The event began at the Sylhet District Stadium at 4pm on Saturday in the presence of young participants.

This nationwide competition marks a major move to scout gifted youngsters, through which the government aims to develop top-tier athletes from the grassroots.

The sports directorate is implementing the scheme under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, following a key pledge from the BNP election manifesto.
