Dhaka, April 27 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has arrived at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka to begin his first official visit to Jashore since taking office.

He reached the airport from his Gulshan residence at 9:30am on Monday, according to his Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon.

The official confirmed that the premier is travelling to the south-western region of Bangladesh by air and made his way to the terminal directly from his home.

The day's agenda begins after 11am in Sharsha, where Tarique will launch the Ulshi canal excavation project, followed by an address at a BNP gathering around 11:30am near the site.
