Bangladesh, July 5 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has extended greetings to President Donald Trump congratulating him on the occasion of the 250th Independence Day of the United States.

The premier's Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon said Tarique had written to the US president on Saturday, reaffirming Bangladesh's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The prime minister also conveyed congratulations on behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh while praising Trump for his "pragmatic" leadership.
