Dhaka, April 27 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has joined a public rally in Jashore after completing a series of government programmes, including the re-excavation of the "Zia Canal".

Supporters greeted him with thunderous applause as he took to the stage at the Central Eidgah Maidan at 4:45pm on Monday.

The premier responded to the cheers by waving to the crowd.

The rally began around 2:30pm, with participants arriving from different wards of Jashore city as well as nearby Upazilas.

Images of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, former chairperson Khaleda Zia, late Standing Committee member Tariqul Islam, along with current Chairman Tarique, were displayed across the venue.
