Dhaka, March 27 -- A suspected mugger has been killed after being accidentally shot by an accomplice during a mugging attempt in the Digholia Upazila of Khulna.

The incident took place around 2am on Friday near the Steamer Ghat at Deyara Ferry Terminal, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Abir Siddique Shuvro, spokesperson for Khulna district police.

The deceased, identified only as Sagor, 30, was a resident of Deyara Colony under Sadar Union.

He was part of a mugging group that intercepted a trader on his way home after work, Abir said.

The trader, 28-year-old Tahidul Islam, was held at gunpoint and assaulted when he resisted, police said.
