Dhaka, April 12 -- A police case has been filed against a Jatiotabadi Jubo Dal leader for allegedly demanding extortion from the hospital founded by renowned kidney transplant specialist Professor Kamrul Islam.

The case was lodged by Abu Hanif, the operation theatre (OT) in-charge of the CKD Urology Hospital in Dhaka's Shyamoli, naming local Jubo Dal leader Moin Uddin and seven to eight unidentified individuals as suspects.

Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police chief Monirul Islam confirmed the filing of the case on Saturday but noted that the primary suspect has not yet been apprehended.

According to the case statement, Moin had been harassing and threatening the complainant for some time, demanding Tk 500,000 in extortion.
