Dhaka, May 12 -- A brave effort from skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto has left Bangladesh defending a target of 268 against Pakistan on the final day of the first Test in Mirpur.

With about 75 overs left in the day, the Tigers declared, giving both sides a chance to find a result on Tuesday.

Shanto (86) and Mushfiqur Rahim (22) started the day at the crease, but it was a back-and-forth affair from the off.

With time running out in the rain-curtailed match, both sides took a more aggressive approach. As the batsmen sought the boundary, the bowlers exploited mistakes.
