Bangladesh, July 17 -- The Met Office has forecast squally weather over the northern Bay of Bengal, the country's coast, and four seaports due to the influence of a low-pressure area.

On Friday, meteorologist AKM Nazmul Hoque said the warning signals at the seaports will remain in force until the next day.

"The low-pressure area is centred over the region between Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, and adjoining Bihar. Although it has weakened somewhat, it remains active over those areas."

According to a weather warning issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, a steep pressure gradient persists over the northwestern Bay of Bengal due to the low-pressure system.
