Speaker strikes Jamaat MP's remarks from record over 'obscene' language
Dhaka, June 16 -- Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad has ordered the expunging of "indecent and obscene" remarks from an Opposition lawmaker's budget speech in parliament.
During Tuesday's general debate on the 2026-27 budget, Jamaat-e-Islami Nilphamari-1 MP Md Abdus Sattar used the terms "sieve" and "needle" while describing exchanges between the government and the Opposition.
The speaker immediately objected and cautioned him.
"Please, be careful when speaking in parliament. We don't want any unpleasant or obscene words to be spoken in the House," he said.
"There are some obscene words in your speech. They have been expunged," added the speaker
