Snakes spotted on 19th floor of Bangladesh Secretariat, beaten to death
Bangladesh, Aug. 27 -- Panic has briefly gripped the Bangladesh Secretariat after three snakes were found on the 19th floor of Building No. 6, before employees beat them to death.
Md Mahmudul Kabir, deputy commissioner of the Secretariat Security Division of Police, said employees killed the reptiles for "safety reasons" after spotting them in the corridor on Thursday morning.
He added that the species could not be identified since the snakes were not preserved.
The officer believes they were young snakes, likely born somewhere on the same floor.
Md Anwar Parvez, sub-officer at the Secretariat's Fire Service and Civil Defence unit, said: "Nobody informed us of any such incident, so we have no information about it."
