Bangladesh, July 6 -- Four children, including two sisters, have drowned in Mymensingh in the span of five hours.
Police said the incidents occurred between Sunday afternoon and evening.
Of them, two sisters died in Gauripur Upazila, and one girl each drowned in Gafargaon and Phulpur Upazilas.
Gauripur Police chief Habibur Rahman said the children drowned in a pond in Bir Pashchimpara village of Ramgopalpur Union. They were Ria Moni, 8, and Ilma Akhter, 4, both residents of the village.
Relatives said the sisters went to bathe in the pond at 2pm, and later drowned in the water.
After some time, Ria was rescued and taken to Gouripur Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared her dead.
