Dhaka, April 17 -- The Coast Guard have seized a huge amount of shrimp fry - shrimp in its larval stage - as it was being taken from Teknaf to Khulna.

The seizure occurred in the wee hours of Friday night in the Shah Amanat Bridge area in Chattogram's Karnafuli area.

A special operation searched two trucks and seized the shrimp fry around 1am, according to a press release from the Coast Guard.

The trucks were headed from Teknaf to Khulna and were carrying approximately 12 million pieces of shrimp fry, the market value of which is about Tk 60 million.
