Dhaka, April 4 -- The government has urged businesses to support energy-saving measures while signalling possible adjustments ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
Power and Energy Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood Tuku made the call at a meeting with business leaders, including shop owners' associations, at Bidyut Bhaban in Dhaka on Saturday.
He said the decision has been taken for three months to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the summer and irrigation season, amid global uncertainties affecting fuel supply.
The minister, however, noted that the schedule could be reviewed in consultation with business leaders before Eid.
