Dhaka, Feb. 26 -- The Election Commission (EC) has fixed Apr 9 for polling in the Sherpur-3 constituency in the parliamentary election, issuing a public notice outlining the full schedule.

Sherpur District Election Officer and Returning Officer Mohammad Jahangir Hossain released the notice on Tuesday afternoon.

The earlier election process in the seat had been cancelled following the death of Jamaat-nominated candidate Nuruzzaman Badol.

The notice sets out the timetable for voters in constituency 145 Sherpur-3 (Sreebordi-Jhenaigati) to elect one member of parliament.

Under the schedule, nomination papers must be submitted to the returning or assistant returning officer by Mar 2.

Scrutiny of nominations will conclude on Mar 5.
