Dhaka, April 21 -- Activists from the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizen Party (NCP) have clashed at the Narayanganj Sadar Upazila Parishad premises over bidding for lease of a ferry pier.
Several people from the opposing sides were injured in the skirmish, which centred on the leasing rights for the Boktaboli ferry pier.
Witnesses said Monday was the scheduled date for submitting tenders for the pier.
Interest in the lease drew large gatherings of followers from all three parties to the Upazila Parishad from early morning.
The tension boiled over around 1pm when BNP activists allegedly blocked Jamaat and NCP members from entering to submit their documents.
