Dhaka, April 21 -- A Mymensingh court has sentenced seven people to death for the 2021 killing of college student Shahinur Alam, also known as Iqbal.

The verdict was delivered on Tuesday afternoon by District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Zakir Hossain in the presence of the suspects, said plaintiff's lawyer Rafiqul Islam.

The case stems from the killing of 19-year-old Iqbal, a student of Rumdo Institute of Modern Technology, whose body was recovered on Jun 5, 2021.

The death-row convicts are Asif Rana, Golam Hossain, Abdul Helim, Mohammad Ali, Farid Ahmed, Yunus Ali, and Shamsul Haque from Palashkanda village in Kamaria Union of Tarakanda Upazila.
