Sajek tourist spots close over landslide fears as heavy rain looms
Bangladesh, July 8 -- Authorities have closed all tourist attractions in Sajek Valley as forecasts warn of heavy to very heavy rainfall and possible disasters.
The restriction will remain in force until further notice to ensure public safety.
On Monday, the Rangamati district administration announced the closure, citing forecasts from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department and the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre that indicate heavy to very heavy rain over the coming days.
The forecast raises the risk of landslides, hill collapses and disruption to transport across parts of the district.
From Monday evening, all tourist attractions in Sajek Valley under Baghaichari Upazila have been closed until further notice.
