Dhaka, April 9 -- Police detectives have arrested Safura Begum Rumi, a former MP from the reserved women's constituency No. 2 (Lalmonirhat-Kurigram) and the president of the Rangpur District unit of the Mohila Awami League, in Dhaka over a number of cases, which include charges of murder and sabotage.
Lalmonirhat District Police chief Md Asaduzzaman said in a statement on Thursday said she was arrested in a raid in the Dhaka's Mohammadpur on Wednesday night.
Lalmonirhat Sadar Police chief Saad Ahmed said the Detective Branch (DB) of police has brought her back to the district and that she would be produced before the court.
Rumi, 46, is a resident of Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila and the wife of Md Abdullah.
