Bangladesh, Aug. 27 -- Independent lawmaker Rumeen Farhana has launched a scathing critique of the government in parliament over the energy crisis, power outages, commodity prices, and the law-and-order situation.

Addressing the power situation, she said: "Regarding gas and electricity, people say '[Iqbal Hassan Mahmood] Tuku comes and goes'. It arrives for a moment, then vanishes. They cannot seem to figure out how long it actually lasts."

She made these remarks on Thursday while speaking on a matter of urgent public importance under Rule 71 of the Rules of Procedure in the parliament.
