Dhaka, July 1 -- Top government and opposition leaders have teamed up to tackle longstanding civic headaches in the Dhaka-15 constituency, promising swift action on water and gas shortages, dengue, juvenile crime and illegal canal encroachment.

Leader of the Opposition Shafiqur Rahman, State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam, and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Safiqul Islam Khan made the joint commitment on Wednesday.

According to the DNCC, the visits covered West Shewrapara, East Monipur, Baishteki and Ibrahimpur, where the leaders inspected local canals, cleanliness drives, dengue hotspots and ongoing gas and water issues.
